MICHIGAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIP OF WAKEBOARDING
July 31st 2004

Zuba U.S.A. presents Projekt Wake, the 2004 Michigan State Championship of Wakeboarding brought to you by Pine Lake Ski School. As the title dictates, the event will be a statewide wakeboarding event, bringing in over 50 riders from all over the state competing for a chance to participate in the national tournament. Wakeboarding is a water sport similar to water skiing in which somebody riding a single board is pulled behind a motorboat and performs jumps while crisscrossing the wake of the boat. The past state wakeboard championships have taken  place at small marinas and boat clubs. Wakeboarding is the largest growing water sport, as the tournament grows, the location needs to as well.

Wyandotte's BASF Waterfront Park, as well as Portofino Restaurant and the Wyandotte Boat Club, make for a great venue to host this state tournament. The City of Wyandotte and the Detroit River have great potential for this and other watersport activities. Most of the people participating in this state tournament are unaware of all that Wyandotte has to offer. By organizing a professionally run summer event such as this state tournament, we have the opportunity to showcase Wyandotte's waterfront parks, restaurants and shops.

The event will occur on Saturday, July 31 st 2004. For a one day period we will produce not only a state-wide wakeboarding tournament, but will also have boat and wakeboard sales, kiteboarding demonstrations, BMX shows, and a beach volleyball tournament. We will bring in vendors from all over the state from Skier's Pier Marina to Red Bull Energy Drink. Together with the Wyandotte Business Association, we will use this opportunity to showcase the downtown businesses and restaurants by local sponsorship and exposure. The event coordinating would be from local wakeboard company, ZubaU.S.A., partnering with the Wyandotte Buzz, the Wyandotte Business Association, Pine Lake Ski School, and Portofino restaurant. We feel these organizations create a well-rounded perspective with all intentions on the betterment of the City of Wyandotte. Projekt Wake will be run by two main organizations: Pine Lake Ski School and ZubaU.S.A. Longtime fully-insured tournament organizer Pine Lake Ski School will run the wakeboard tournament. They will take care of the tournament logistics, etc. Secondly, the event as a whole will be run by ZubaU.S.A., which will maintain the land based activities and overall well-being of the event in its entirety.
